We have a Foundation Unit which opened in September 2010 and caters for 16 Pre-School pupils from 3 years of age in the morning and a further 16 pupils in the afternoon.
We have 7 Primary classes:
We are fortunate enough to have an environment which lends itself to learning through a broad and balanced curriculum. The school has a nature trail, adventure trail, indoor and outdoor play facilities, an amphitheatre, reflection garden, multi-purpose craft room with cooking facilities, a sound proof music room, an outdoor classroom and a large play area for a range of sports and recreation activities.
All classes have an interactive whiteboard. We have laptops and iPads which can be taken to each classroom to enhance our computing curriculum.
Our school library is very well stocked and we have a rolling programme of improving and adding to our stock. Pupils use the library for research as well as borrowing books to read for pleasure.
Music provision is a strength of the school and we have a dedicated sound proof music room for the large number of peripatetic music teachers who teach groups at our school. We also have a school choir called ‘Barford Bunch’ who meeteach at lunch time.
Our school field is much enjoyed by all (including rabbits and other wildlife!). Pupils access the field whenever practical for P.E., playtimes and to support curriculum activities. Our amphitheatre has given us a place for performance as well as a place for end-of-term talent shows! Two playgrounds mean that younger and older pupils can have different play spaces when required and we have room to spread out when playing large scale games such as tennis or netball.
